X-Ray Products

X-Ray radiography is the only other nondestructive testing technology besides ultrasonics that allows for the detection of defects deep within a part. X-rays are generated either with an x-ray tube or with a radioactive isotope source. They pass through the part being inspected and are detected by a piece of film or a solid state x-ray detector. We offer several x-ray products which are listed below.

Typical Applications

· Printed Circuit Boards

· Castings

· Plastic Injection Molding

· Automotive Parts

· Aerospace Components

· Electrical/Mechanical Components

· Medical Devices

Torrex® Cabinet X-Ray Systems

The Torrex Models TRX2800 and TRX5200 represent the latest evolution of the highly successful Torrex product line. Over the last 20 years, the Torrex has been an extremely successful instrument used for nondestructive testing and inspection. The Torrex's small size, interlocked door, and radiation-safe enclosure make it ideal for location almost anywhere. Its unique design provides for a long product lifetime with safe, reliable operation. Simple controls are utilized allowing operation by persons with minimal radiography training. These factors combined with a low purchase price make the Torrex a great value and have resulted in its overwhelming acceptance worldwide.

Features available on the Torrex systems include ...

· X-Ray energies up to 150 kVp

· Focal spot sizes of 0.5 and 1.5 mm (70 µm for microfocus)

· X-Ray tube featuring a stationary anode and a 0.030" beryllium window

· Beam divergence of 30°- 40°

· 100% duty cycle

· Exposure timer range: 3 sec. - 60 min. (1 second increments)

· Film to source distances from 12" to 52"

Faxitron® Model 43855F Real-Time X-Ray Imaging System

Faxitron X-Ray Systems have been the standard in test instrumentation used by manufacturers of electrical components, printed circuit boards, and castings. The reliable design, long life, and ease of operation have made Faxitron the unit of choice in x-ray inspection for over 25 years.

The new Faxitron Model 43855F offers the industry the same Faxitron dependability with optional features including a microfocus x-ray source providing x-ray magnification of inspection samples and several real-time x-ray imaging packages designed to provide the flexibility for meeting specific applications. The Model 43855F is available for use with x-ray film imaging and/or real-time x-ray imaging. It also has a modular design so owners can start with a standard film imaging cabinet and upgrade to real-time capability at any time.

Features of the Model 43855F include ...

· X-Ray Source: 110 kV, 0.5mm spot, 3.0 mA (standard)

· Microfocus X-Ray Source: 110 kV or 130 kV, 50 µm spot (optional)

· High Power X-Ray Source: 150 kV, 1.5mm spot (optional)

· 0.030" Beryllium window

· Exposure Timer: 5 sec. - 60 min. (1 sec. increments)

· Film to Detector Distance (14" - 52")

· Maximum Coverage: 24" diameter

Real-Time Imaging options include ...

Our W.R.E. 200 radioscopic equipment has been developed for the inspection of light alloy wheels from 13" to 20"
and height 4 to 10".

It complies with national (DPR 185) and international (ICPR) regulations for radiation protection.

Its three handling axes are controlled by a joystick or CNC-PC placed on a console connected to the radiation enclosure by a mobile arm. The CNC Software under WINDOWS NT® based operating system.

Its C-Arm manipulator moves the X-Ray system on three axes. The wheel rotates by a special rotation device. This system is able to inspect a wide range of wheel sizes.

High-speed radioscopic inspection system for castings.

The highest level of automation with the highest production.

The main characteristic of our A.C.R.E. equipment is the fast production cycle. During the inspection cycle inside the radiation enclosure, the operator or a robot loads and/or unloads the casting outside to the radiation enclosure.

There are no sliding doors. The innovative "L" design of the loading/unloading tunnels guarantees the absence of the X-Ray radiation external to the radiation enclosure. Standard models are available with 2, 3 and 6 working stations but several of our A.C.R.E. systems have been customized to meet our customers' special requirements.
