Ultrasonic Flaw Detection / Manual Scanning

 

 

This unit is designed for the manual load and unload of Aluminum Link Castings.  The customer requirements for testing criteria were the inspection of circular areas on either end of the casting for inclusions/ folds in the metal using Ultrasonic Flaw Detection.

             Mechanical devices are designed to allow the travel of two separate transducers along a predetermined scan radius, with mechanical stops at the beginning and end of each scan.  The test results are displayed automatically once the start and stop sensors for each scan are verified electronically.

             This test system is designed to handle different fixture plates for testing different parts, with minimal changeover required.  All necessary guarding to protect the transducers was supplied with the fixture plate.  Unit has a small footprint for limited space areas, unit shown 2.7' wide x 3' deep x 5.5' tall (top of mast).  Rugged construction using 3/16” stainless steel for the test tank and 3” square tubing for the frame (copper plumbing) is employed.  Electrical requirements consist of a single drop of 120 VAC, 1 phase, 60 Hz..  The electrical disconnect is supplied with the unit.

As always, all fixturing is designed to exact customer part geometry.
