Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection
Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) is used to detect discontinuities
that are open to the surface on non-porous components. Inspection is carried
out by cleaning the surface of the part to be inspected, applying a penetrant
chemical to the surface, removing excess penetrant, applying a developer,
and visually inspecting the resulting surface. American NDT provides industrial
systems for FPI that include stations for each of the main inspection
steps, including tanks, dryers, powder boxes, inspection booths, and accessories
(black lights, spray guns, developer, penetrant, and light meters). These
systems are built to the customer's specifications.
